Will you join us? Upcoming Pack 187 events at Mayflower Church

Post date: Aug 22, 2021 5:53:42 PM

We know the past 18 months have been extraordinary. Many families 'hit pause' on Scouting activities, and have been trying to find the right time to resume. We want to let you know that you are welcome to rejoin us when you are ready. For the foreseeable future, we will be meeting outside at Mayflower Church, and ask that individuals wear masks when we cannot maintain physical distancing (even though we are outside).

We've been meeting once a month over the summer with a smaller turnout. We've gone hiking, learned about exothermic reactions with science experiments, and demonstrated knife safety. All that said, we've been taking modifications as needed from rank advancements. So please know that when your child is ready to come back, they'll simply jump in where we are at in the progression. We are less focused on checking all the boxes, and more focused on having fun together while also completing some of the Cub Scouting requirements.

So...Our next Pack meeting is Monday night 8/23 from 6:30-7:30 pm in the Courtyard at Mayflower Church, and we hope you will join us! We are also anticipating some new recruits. Cubmaster Jen will be leading a woodcarving activity that will be engaging and appropriate for all ages.

Then, we will resume our every-other-week meeting frequency on 9/13.

A few other updates:

    • Pack Calendar drafted for the Scouting Year 2021-2022, and attached. We have high hopes that we will stick to these dates/events, and we'll adjust as needed with recommendations from MN Dept of Health, CDC, etc.

    • We have a new website! http://www.troop187.org/ Our calendar of activities is also shown on this site in a Google Calendar, so that you can add it to your own profile if you are Google savvy. Check out some pictures of recent activities on the website, and if you have any other website ideas, please let us know what you'd like to see!

    • Youth are welcome to participate occasionally, if that's what feels right. Youth are not required to be registered to join our regular pack meetings, and friends/siblings are encouraged!

    • If you're ready to formally register your child in Cub Scouts, there is an incentive to do so by September 30 - a Zebco fishing pole for every Cub Scout!

    • Scholarships are also available with details on this page: https://scoutingevent.com/250-2021_2022MembershipFees?UnitType=Pack&UnitNumber=3187
